Mental ill-health, also known as mental health conditions or problems, affect around one in four of us in any given year. Most people will have experienced mental ill-health, whether it’s their own, a family member, friend, or colleague.
Mental health is more than an absence of mental illness and it covers states of mind, which can affect how we think, feel and act, as well as mental health conditions that are diagnosed by a health professional. Mental health conditions range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
