Health Champions – Gambling Brief Intervention Training
Gambling is addictive and can turn harmful, impacting many facets of a person’s health, relationships and finances. In 2020/21, the North East had the highest prevalence of at-risk gamblers in England (4.9%).
Brief interventions are short, empathetic and structured conversations that seek in a non-confrontational way to motivate and support people to think about and/or plan a change in their gambling behaviour.
The training is intended to provide the minimum level of knowledge and skill needed to identify risk confidently and effectively, provide brief advice and signpost to local services.
