THE BOX YOUTH AND COMMUNITY PROJECT (TBYCP)
TBYCP was set up in 2002 by a group of local residents and to this day it continues to be managed by a local Management Committee.
The building is open 6 days/5 evenings per week and provides the following:
– Crisis support (9.30-4 Mon-Fri)
– Lend a Hand Service providing help around the home and garden for elderly and vulnerable residents (Mon-Fri -paid for service)
– Dinner 2 Door Service providing hot nuritious meals for elderly/housebound residents in Doxford Ward (Tues/Wed/Fri – paid for service)
– Stepping Out Project providing offsite activities for adults with learning disabilities (Wed 10-1 – paid for service)
– East Rangers Project aimed at keeping Blakeney Woods and the Doxford area safe and clear of litter (Thurs 9.30-12)
– Good Vibes Project providing professional counselling support for teeangers aged 11-19 (in partnership with Sunderland All Together Consortium & Sunderland Counselling Service)
- youth club sessions – 4 nights/week (days and times vary)
- afterschool activities for children of primary school age (4.30-6pm Tues-Fri)
- year round school holiday activity programmes (6-19 year olds)
- young volunteers project (14-19 year olds)
- Go Online drop-in sessions (10am – 12 noon Mon/Tues/Wed)
- Walking Group (10am – 12 noon Mon)
- Communitry Pantry (10am – 12 noon Tues)
- Community Volunteers – (10-12 Thurs)
- Community Lunch (12-2 Thurs)
- Family Activity Sessions (10-12 Sat)
- Interest groups for adults i.e ukulele group, ladies & mixed indoor bowls groups (Doxford CA), art groups etc (dates and times vary each term)
