What is the ESCAPE-pain programme?

ESCAPE-pain stands for Enabling Self-management and Coping with Arthritic Pain using Exercise. It is a rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain that integrates education and exercise.
ESCAPE-pain for knees and hips: designed to benefit people with chronic knee/ hip pain.

The programme is evidence based. 

What to expect 

  • The programme is 6 weeks long
  • Twice weekly
  • 1 hour sessions
  • 15 – 20 minute discussion and a cuppa
  • Tailored exercises

The programme aims

This programme will help you: 

  • Carry out normal activities
  • Manage your symptoms
  • Become more Active
  • Continue to exercise 

Types of Exercise

Apart from general exercises the programme will contain specific exercise routines such as Hip exercises and knee exercises .
