Age UK Sunderland
Age UK Sunderland (AUKS), is a leading charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people in the City of Sunderland. Established over 70 years ago, AUKS offers a wide range of services designed to support older adults in maintaining their independence, well-being, and social connections.
AUKS provides comprehensive support services including advocacy, information and advice, social clubs, befriending services, hospital discharge support, and specialised care for those with dementia. Our services aim to promote independence, reduce loneliness, and improve the overall well-being of older adults.
Our services support older adults aged 50 and above, with a focus on the frailest and most vulnerable individuals. This includes those living with dementia, those recently discharged from hospital, and those experiencing high levels of loneliness and social isolation.
AUKS operates exclusively within the City of Sunderland, offering services citywide through various community hubs and outreach programmes. Our main office is located at the Bradbury Centre, Stockton Road, Sunderland, with additional services provided at the Essence Centre and the Metcalfe Centre in the Coalfields area of Sunderland.
Our Mission is: To promote the wellbeing of all older people throughout the City of Sunderland, improve their quality of life and help them maintain independence
